Are Electric Cars Worth It?

We read recently in the New York Times about the rise of electric vehicle purchasing in other countries. This is driven in large part due to the plan by at least seven countries to ban internal combustion engine cars over the next few decades. The result is an impact on the industry and has inspired sustainability measuring people to take a closer look at what that means for the plant, your pocketbook, and ultimately our health.
As reported by Wired, electric cars still need power to run and a battery to run the power. Depending on where the electricity is generated, the impact of electric vehicles could be comparable. Regardless, the embodied energy in EV battery production and maintenance is significant.
